ELEMENTARY PROGRAM – Kindergarten through Sixth Grade
CLA’s Elementary Program is characterized by a rigorous academic program presented from a Christian worldview. We foster students’ intellectual and spiritual development using instructional methods such as inquiry, problem solving, project based learning and collaboration. Our curriculum program and resources are designed to engage students’ interests, leading them to become independent learners.
Students must be 5 years old by September 1st.
The core K5 program schedule consists of M-F mornings from 8:15-11:15. Half-day students may also stay through lunch and recess.
Beyond the core program schedule, families may choose additional afternoons that fit their schedules, with the potential of a 5 full-day schedule option. Students are engaged in the core academic subjects (Bible, math, language arts, music) during the mornings, and additional subject areas (science, social studies, etc.) and enrichment activities during the afternoon.
Morning devotions, daily Bible classes, classroom worship and weekly chapel services foster each child’s spiritual development. Chapels are led by children’s pastors, teachers and students. Each morning begins with devotions and prayer.
Our curriculum encompasses many instructional methods and resources designed to reach students’ varied interests, talents, learning styles and abilities. Our curriculum encourages students to develop their problem solving skills, explore their interests and ask questions about the world around them.
CLA is committed to a traditional small classroom model with a low student-to-teacher ratio. Teachers and instructional specialists are able to cultivate relationships with each child, and provide personalized attention to each learner.
